Bob Feller, one of the greats of the game.
Indians legend, and a guy who's name is well known, but who's accomplishments do not get enough attention.
He was 92 years old, which makes when he was Jamie Moyers' age, Jamie Moyer was a 8 years old.

I heard a story about him that was pretty good.
His hometown had a gopher problem and they had a 10ยข bounty for each gopher. He caught 50 gophers and earned $5 that he bought a baseball with Ruth and Gehrig's autograph. He was 16 at the time. He then also signed the ball, before he was even a pro, because he knew how great he was going to be.

It's sad that he's gone, he used to pitch in Indians Fantasy camp every year, and throw out the first pitch of spring training every year. I just found out that my dad's treasured baseball that he kept on his desk (never wanted to touch it for fear of breaking the case as a child) was autographed by Feller.
One of the greatest Feller stories I ever heard was the one of his signing. He signed at 17 for $1 and an autographed baseball and then finished up high school in the off season.
He enlisted in the Navy two days after Pearl Harbor and lost three years of his prime to fight in the war.
I always remember that when a new PED scandal or super massive free agent contract would get signed he'd chime in talking about how the game that he loved was being ruined.
Feller was a shining example for me of what baseball SHOULD be. And though none of my friends and family knew him, it feels like we've lost some one close to us.
