Remember last year when Chapman had defected and we were all salivating over him hoping, pleading, praying that he'd sign with our clubs (URB or MLB, for me it's one and the same)?
The next big thing has just announced that he has rescinded his previous claim to not want to come to the United States to play, Yu Darvish!
He's half Iranian (part of the reason he was uncomfortable coming to the US), half Japanese, all kinds of amazing. In six year career pitching in the NPB he has a line of 1036.1 IP in 136 games (that's right, that's an average of about 7.2 IP per game!), 2.12 ERA, K/9 of 8.46, a 1.02 WHIP, 45 complete games (Halladay over the course of his entire career has 58) and 12 shutouts (Halladay has 19). The craziest thing though? He's only 24 years old!
Lady and gentlemen, you may commence salivating when ready.

Good. The Yankees have been talking to him for years. Maybe he can sure up their rotation a few months into the season.

Let's see if Darvish ends up being Dice-K or ends up like Irabu, Nomo, etc. Although Nomo did have a respectable career. Can't say the same for Irabu

I'm a little worried about the mileage he's put on his arm, but I do think he could be an impact player here in the US. I'd like him a whole lot more if he signed with an NL team or an AL team like the Mariners.
