Just discovered that Cliff Pennington is only a 2nd year, not a 3rd. Since roster issues are disasters waiting to happen, double check the arbitration-eligible players you drafted, their years remaining and salaries may be incorrect.

Seeing as contract issues are occurring from every facet of our league, I see no problem in being able to drop or protect players during the free agent period.
I understand that contract issues may arise, but they are anyway. If we want this league to be "realistic" (and I don't know what we really want lol, but authenticity has come up a lot), we should not have a several week period where you can't drop anyone or protect anyone.
For example, I have $0 in available cap and if I heard that one of my prospects was going to be traded away, I would have to drop another player to clear salary. But I can't do that because we decided to lock adds/drops during the FA period. It was to avoid confusion, but confusion is happening regardless. If a player does make an accounting error when protecting or dropping a player they should simply be fined accordingly.
When my option was paying all my money for 4 or so years of Doc, or thinking about what I'd have to give up to acquire him, it was a no-brainer. No real life GM would say, well I could spend $5 to 5 different players that I will drop in two weeks just so I can't sign that closer that I should be able to afford (because that makes no sense at all).
I realize this decision is already in affect, although it was not voted on. But I feel strongly that we need to change it for next year. I wouldn't want another GM to be handcuffed like I am because I signed the best pitcher of all time lol.

I agree with you, but that rule is in place for this year. Just gotta wait until next year.
Either way, check those arbitration players from the draft. If it is actually a big problem (2 players I drafted had incorrect years-Pennington is a 2nd, and Maholm is actually a 6th) then we can have a discussion about it.
